If Obama can raise $1 Billion, I guess it can be said that lots of people support him. Even Crazy Sarah has pulled in $5 million thus far.
There's no accounting for taste.

He walked away from it when he saw he could spend more without it. In short, he instituted change even before he was elected

Sometimes you come off as a jilted lover of Obama, the Messiah, Pete. The fellow is plain and simply a politician (who tries to channel JFK on occassion )

Or beat then at their own game, perhaps?
If I had my way the ONLY way to run would be with restricted public financing.
Each candidate gets, say, $50,000,000, is barred from using personal, private, or corporate donated funds and limited to three months of campaigning. All unused fund to be returned to the public campaign fund.
It'll never happen, but I like the idea.

My heart is with you there Blue, but that kind of policy would weigh hugely to the advantage of incumbents. There is a cost to gaining name recognition. Outsiders' voices are needed in the political process.
I wish we could leave off the corporate campaigning, but we can't do so without a constitutional amendment depriving corporations of the rights of personhood. I am willing to work on that one.

D-Ray

Simple proof that corporations are not persons, try running Exxon-Mobil for Senate.
