Nah, the miracle of Google Haven't had a cat in a long time.

Although my aunt had a black cat, when lying down it was about the size of a basketball or so it seemed.

This has caused major traffic delays and extra hours on the road for commuters. Plus revenue losses to small businesses now without traffic.

So is this country going to allow a slow crumbling away of all the Infrastructures or are we as a nation going to leave something for or children?

I thought all those union guys did such great work?

Oh, right. Blame the designer...or the cement contractor...or the...

At least is was caught before we had another repeat performance of the Minneapolis I-35 bridge.

I take it you're not a structural engineer (I am). This has nothing to do with either unions, designers or concrete contractors. I has everything to do with traffic volume coupled with increased truck traffic. Our construction/maintenance of critical infrastructure simply has not kept up with the demand upon said infrastructure.

Finn - it was a tongue in cheek remark. Should have used a smiley.

Foreigners-----have to fund the building of a single bridge in order to get it done? Because, I am assuming, your local wing-nuts don't want it built? That says it all.

We have the same situation finally being taken care of here, with the local highschool. Twenty years ago, a levy was passed to expand the school--------they parked trailers on the lawn. (Still there, BTW.) Since then, the push was on for another levy, but it was fought on the premise that, "We're not going to get ripped off again!". Then an article appeared in the paper a year ago stating that money had become available---from the Federal Government.
The expansion is finally underway.

One act of possible corruption took place, twenty years ago, and the money has to come from outside the local area and state to get anything done.....

Virginia is a red state, BTW. That's right, Republicans have STOLEN your money to build a school in someone elses state! Oh. the HORROR of it.

We need to get the Dutch over here to show how you build pre-stressed concret bridges that go up quickly and don't need painting every five years. Because the pre-stressed concrete decking is made under controlled climate it is generally better than concrete pourse on site.

The unions had nothing to do with the "T1" steel used in making the bridge causing the cracks.

An announcement should be made soon on what they have found out in the inspections.

The other bridges purposed started out as just one twenty some odd years ago. But was to be in the area were some very very rich have homes an or farms. Eminent domain laws to obtain land only work against those without money.

A simple glance at a map of the Louisville shows were the placement of a bridge should be. But study after study plan after plan all to delay until the money was spent up.

Shoot, I was watching Rick Steve's travel show on the weekend. He was in the Balkans and cities there with a river through the middle have half a dozen bridges.
