That at least is logical. That is, farther from high use areas it is more expensive. Here in San Diego, you can find an average difference of 20-40 cents a gallon sometimes within ten miles. Incidentally, there is only a loose correlation between the affluence of the area and high prices. Zone pricing they call it here.

East Tennessee is one of the prettiest spots in the eastern US with a couple of nice cities - Knoxville and Chattanooga. Memphis, OTOH, is a pretty dismal place IMHO. It would take a lot more than cheaper gas to get my to move to Memphis, even if their BBQ is better.

FWIW regular was down to $3.05 in Kansas City today. Kansas a bit higher tax on gasoline. The $3.05 price was on the MO side of State Line Road. Get a mile or two a way from state line, and it might be another $.05 cheaper.
Regards,
D-Ray

Thing about living in the sticks is they know people are not going to make an 80 mile round trip to save a few bucks on a tank of gas. You waste to much of the difference trying to do so.

I've noticed the same thing about South Missouri, only they only gouge you another .30-.40 cents.
Back in the good ol' days of the gas wars, I was buying it for .19.9 cents a gallon. Went a long way in my old V-Dub Transporter.
