Raising minimum wage

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/11/26...alifornia.html

I just saw an interview on tv with this guy. It doesn't state it in the article I linked, but in the interview he pointed out that if Walmart increased the pay to their workers, it would be 1% of their overall costs. If they passed that cost along to the consumer, the average Walmart customer would pay about $12 extra a year. He pointed out that is a lot less than that person pays in taxes for gov programs that subsides the low incomes of Walmart workers.

I would prefer to give my money in this manor at least it is helping someone have a better standard of living.

I am not real big on tidthing in the orginized religion.I think people should give to people and first hand, not to a organization.

Yes they operate on 3.5 Net profit margin.

But, I don't know about the OP numbers "1% of their overall costs" if that is the case then they would be taking more then 1%.

Do you really think only the rich owns Walmart stock? Most people own it along with the evil big oil stocks.

The profit margin is kept low by paying obscene salaries to executives. Also saves them money on dividends.
