San Francisco evictions

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/people...155100603.html

My guess is that the hotel industry had some influence in getting these types of laws in place. Not sure how common this is in other cities.

I wonder what they would do to homeowners rather than tenants doing this? Seems pretty extreme to me.

I think I see people living in the extra rooms of the McMansions out here....
sort of a result of the recession and high rents.

You see evidence of that Barbara? or is it me?

I think it is the deal whereby you swap houses oor appartments for holidays. You get their place, say in England, and the yours here for a week or two

If you violate the lease by subletting owners surely have the right to throw
you out on your face.

I never like the concept of mixing normal residence with the hotel business...too many transients.

Here recently it was found out that prostitution had invaded the system.

The evictions should be in accordance to the lease and laws of California. You have 30 days, that said I would take what the article states with a grain of salt.
We also have laws and leases as to how the rental property can be used by the renter.

Minimum residential space is rented 30 days or longer. Hotel space can not be rented for more than 24 days. Do you see how that works Barbara, yes there is laws in place. These laws are far older than the internet and some bright idea. Do we want to talk about laws regarding businesses operating with in city limits that this practice is evading.

We have a similar case going on with taxi cabs as well.
