'Effective' is a good connotations word. It means stuff like efficient, successful, and it kind of assumes that one is efficiently succeeding at worthy goals. Since I strongly doubt that anything Gartz is up to is remotely worthy, the word seems quite the wrong choice. I think 'powerful' would be a more apt choice, the connotations are more neutral. Indeed, you can be Atilla the Hun, and no one would balk at saying 'powerful.' That word does not necessarily connote approval, except to authoritarian types....

Apparently, Kevin to become speaker made a deal with the Gaetz group. Gaetz found out that he was a weasel and decided to get rid of him early.

What the Democrats should have done is deny Gaetz and preserve Kevin since Kevin seems like a guy who is amenable, pliable.

Matt Gaetz is an ideologue who is seeking a reset.

'Reset'is a bullshit word, a glittering generality, unless you fill in specifics of what it means, it sounds good but means nothing.

Disagree. Gaetz miscalculated and now its blown up in his face. His own conference kicked him out to the curb, the Dem side of the House.

Gaetz was confident that McCarthy would be supported by the Dems and would remain speaker, so his effort to oust him was political drama, a poke in the eye for passing the CR with the Dems. He should have known after the Dem closed door meeting that the Dems were going to vote against him en masse.

Now he has attained the Ted Cruz status in the House as the most hated by both sides. Perhaps Steve Bannon is his only friend in DC.

Well, that's one deranged way of looking at it. Kevin has already fucked over the Dems by reneging on his agreement to leave these fiscal battles until after the elections in '24. Why the hell would the Democrats trust and save his rancid ass now?

Gaetz is going to end up dogpaddling in a Floriduh ditch full of 'gators if the GOP has it's way after this. I'd be chumming the waters and betting on the reptiles to not show any professional courtesy.

A description of Kevin McCarthy's accomplishments as Speaker from an article in WaPo:

Quote:
voted to overturn the 2020 election results; bowed and scraped at Mar-a-Lago after Jan. 6, 2021; destroyed a bipartisan Jan. 6 commission his own designee negotiated and then trashed the Jan. 6 committee; released Jan. 6 security footage to Tucker Carlson; undermined the rule of law by attacking the prosecutions of former president Donald Trump; and launched the impeachment of President Biden without a shred of evidence of wrongdoing.
And the Republicans are complaining that the Dems did not save McCarthy from getting the boot. 208 FU from the Democrats to a well deserving nincompoop.

A question. Did any of the Dems vote to make McCarthy the Speaker? If not what the fuck is this noise about "the Dems are the ones who booted him out"? I've actually had someone on line tell me it was the Democrats fault because they "joined the dark side" and voted against McCarthy.
I've seen a few mentions that Jeffries should be made Speaker. Oh hell no! Not with the GQP clown show driving the Republican majority. That would be like throwing a tiny bottle of perfume into a dumpster of rotting food that been left out in the sun on a hot day.
