Ron DeSantis has been snookered.

A while back Ron threatened to dissolve the Disney special district status and appointed his own board. Every board member was handpicked by DeSantis. Now the new board finds out they have very little power. (Edit: I previously stated Ron had dissolved Disney's special district status).

One would assume that Disney can afford better lawyers than DeSantis. The crux of the problem DeSantis has created is that with with Disney's special district exclusion, they are paying a lot of the local county taxes, thus subsidizing the county residents. Risk DeSantis is facing is that the taxes of people in Orange county will go up astronomically if this district is totally dissolved. Florida is a tourism funded low/no tax state. They used to hand out free orange juice at the welcome center to the Florida turnpike.

This thing isn't over yet. Its DeSantis turn to shoot. They intentionally made it so that the law took effect a year after his signing of the bill.

Anton Lazzaro, a former GOP operative, has been found guilty of sex trafficking underage girls...

Lazzaro was charged with seven counts involving "commercial sex acts" with five minors ages 15 and 16 in 2020, when he was 30 years old...

Lazzaro's indictment touched off a political firestorm in the Republican Party of Minnesota. He had donated roughly $190,000 to Minnesota Republicans.
