Of course we know that he is not representative. But by far most of us do not understand why this perverted person got, all in all (2016/2020) - around 150000000 votes. Maybe I have some idea about this phenomenon. It has much to do with the history of the United States, with the two party system, with the existence of the so called "Bible Belt" and the so called "Rust Belt" and so on and on. Many things together, including the Social Media, made this mad monster possible.

This person got that many votes because a significant section of the population's concerns re globalization and immigration were dismissed/ignored by important Elders of both parties.

Of course, a subset of such a section is racist.

One thing is already for sure: The Inauguration Day will become a nationwide "super spreader" event because most of the demonstrators will not respect the even most basic Covid rules.

In about ten or 15 days the statistics will tell the sad story.

What I see happening. This country is experiencing a shifting of the balance of power. Becoming one where the current majority of the electorate will no longer be the future one.
Their are some of the current ones who are fearing will be treated badly. By those who follow because of the way they treated the minority groups in the past. Fearing retribution and loss of privileges is a strong driving force.

If this country can not learn to get along then this world has little chance. For this country is a microcosm of the rest of the planets populations. A mixture of peoples and beliefs.
