Socalled 'Right To Work' Law Repealed in Michigan
'In victory for labor unions, Michigan governor repeals 'right-to-work' law'
"(Reuters) - Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Friday signed a package of bills repealing the state's so-called "right to work" law that allowed workers to opt out of unions, a long-sought victory for labor organizers facing an era of diminished power.
Whitmer became the first governor since the 1960s to roll back right-to-work legislation. Twenty-six other U.S. states and the territory of Guam still have right-to-work laws on the books, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
"Michigan workers are the most talented and hard-working in the world and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect," Whitmer, a two-term Democrat, said in a statement.
Michigan House Bills 4004 and 4007 and Senate Bill 34 passed the Democratic-controlled state legislature earlier this month. House Bill 4007 requires that contractors hired by the state pay a so-called prevailing wage, the amount used when hiring union workers."

Good to know that this has occurred in such an important industrial state.
Down here in Florida there is a relentless effort to encourage those in a union not to pay dues.

The Right To Work...or Less Laws funded by executives and owners what is wrong with that? See nothing wrong with them protecting their workers from paying for representation. I'm sure they are generous and understanding.
Even thou executives have contracts.

Meanwhile, Arkansas Republican Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed a bill into law this week that rolls back a number of child labor protections across the state, including a measure that had required employers to obtain work certificates for children under the age of 16.

I'd like to see the people who insist 'conservatives are human beings with hearts who only want the same good things everyone wants' defend this! Tell me this isn't the work of heartless money-grasping bastards!

This cracks me up. In one thread in this forum, the forum members advocated having children given access to "gender-affirming care", including access to meds like puberty blockers, without their parent's knowledge. In this thread, doing away with the relatively useless work permit for high school kids is "the work of heartless money-grasping bastards".
Truly fascinating.
FYI, states are all over the place on this issue. Some states have no work permit requirements, some only require them for kids up to age 16, and some require them for certain types of jobs up to and including age 18. None of these state regulations replaced or detracted from the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, which already provides strict child labor prohibitions and requirements.

No, it was a legit observation and a legit set of facts.
Set of facts -
- states are all over the place with requiring minors to get a work permit.
- state laws can only be more strict than Federal child labor laws, which are already pretty strict.
Sorry if that bothers you.
