Watch my contribution to October 2011/Occupy DC

Long story I'll shorten, but they were having problems with the live feed for the October 2011 Portest held in Freedom Plaza, so they asked if I could come up and help..

This is actually www.October2011.org (Stop The Machine)

Here's the video of the camera work I provided. We got the live feed going, and I did the camera all night.. a small cannnon mini on a cheap and broken tri-pod.. but we gave the world something to watch..

Some good stuff in here..Sme cool tunes, a funny as hell commedian.. um.. a few other things... A Veteran.. Something for everyone.. especially scroll trough and look for the speaker Derick Jensen they fed to us through Skype..

Here's a recording of the feed.
http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/17736902

BTW, is you can, pleae post up the live feed of this on Twitter and Facebook if you have it... Get more people watching... #OccupyDC #oct6

Very cool, Simi. I couldn't help but notice, however, that the protesters in NYC looked close to my kids' ages, but the ones in your vid looked like they could have gone to high school with me. That's actually great. Makes it harder for ass-wipes like Cantor to say that the protesters are just a bunch of snot-nosed whiny brats. I would have to suggest that the 99% pulls in a lot of demographic groups - that is except for the filthy rich.

Regards,

D-Ray

Keep up the good work, Simi. We can only hope this grows. And, it appears to be.

Cantor is a snot-nosed whiney brat. I can't stand the sight of that scrawny little punk.

Everyone knows that Cantor Bantor is toxic waste...

Yep, it's a very diverse crowd in DC. When they asked who came from out of town for the protest, almost 90% of the crowd rasied their hands.. that really made me proud to see. A lot of the peolpl I talked t were part of Occupy NYand LA.. and will be going back and forth between the cities. THe Occupy Movement is a lot more organized than the media lets on to.

But not organized in the way Herman Cain, "without any facts to back it up" suggests.

Good that you are following what you want to do and are out there. Now, we can get direct information. I still want to flip on the TV and see someone speaking through those giant horns. If the police become aggressive wear some padded clothes or coats/pants with some newspaper armor. The piggies will be likely striking your body. Goggles or facemask and breathing mask also might come in handy. Those may; however, give them probable cause for arrest. The laws have probably changed since the Patriot Act. Ironically, my favorite outfit for such adventures was similar to what tactical officers wear, namely, Tactical/BDU pants, a heavy shirt, and a vest with lots of pockets. He he, new niche clothing line—urban protester wear or UP Wear.

The cops are almost non existant at Freedom Plaza, just a few Park Police walking around and a car at the end of a street or two. THey closed down streets for The Taste of DC this weekend, and instead of towing a bus that had to be moved, they came and asked around looking for the owner, who turned out to be a media group for Occupy WS that came down to DC to help. They said in NY they would have had a wrecker the second they saw it.

In DC, they cops are giving a parade style escort in front of the people marching down the street, sirens and all... It's a hell of a cool sight. Almost like the cops are saying we understand.

I've seen a lot more really cool and decent interactions between the cops and the protesters here this time.

Not sure ifit is because the cops agree with this movement, of if because of a few protests in the not so long ago past that cost them quite a few millions in civil and criminal lawsuits.

As I recall, D.C. law enforcement also facilitated the demonstrations by the Second Amendment advocates who came to D.C. packing arms for show. They are savvy enough to know that any partiality on their part is likely to backfire.

The few visible thugs in the NYPD did the movement a terrific favor by drawing attention to the protests. They gave the media the type of stuff that it is interested in.

D-Ray
