You must further qualify that statement. It wasn't Sunna as a whole but Wahabism/Salaphism. This sect of Sunni Islam is responsible for financing all of the iterations of al Qaeda, of Boko Haram and of Daesh.

All the "big players" in Wahhabism are Saudi sheiks, members of or closely allied to the House of Saud. This begs the question of why we continue to support Saudi Arabia while combating the terrorists they finance.
