The death of Jimmy Mack and injuries to Tracy Morgan and others in his limousine are tragic.

And I need to say that we spend every weekend on I-80/94 travelling between our places in suburban Chicago and the lake Michigan dunes in NW Indiana. This stretch of highway through NE Illinois, NW Indiana, and SW Michigan is regualry packed with more big rigs than any piece of road in the country. And week after week we see way, way too many of these big rig drivers going too fast, following too close, jumping lanes without due caution, and tailgaiting cars and each other at high speed. Whenever there's a serious wreck on 80/94 you can betcha it involved one of these big rigs. There were two terrible ones last winter that killed several people and they were both started by some big rig driver going too fast for conditions and slamming into some poor driver just trying to get home for dinner.

I'm at once saddened and infuriated.

I hope he makes it.

I am glad I am off the road. I had some near misses.

I hope Tracy Morgan will survive this tragedy.

A lot of time bombs are rolling on our partly totally overcrowded Autobahns. Those time bombs are overloaded old trucks with defective brakes and defective tires driven by overtired truckers from Eastern Europe. We had many many casualties here since the iron curtain teard down.
