Jared Lee Loughner, Omar Thornton and Seung-Hui Cho, for example? In case those names are unfamiliar, they are, respectively: the Tucscon/Giffords shooter, the Hartford Distributors shooter and the Virginia Tech shooter. Oh, care to guess what all three had in common other than the fact that they murdered a number of people with a handgun? Each had a documented history of mental health issues yet each one easily and legally purchased a handgun. Yep, by God it's those lefties out there again and God (whoever that is) forbid we do something about their ability to get their hands on the instrument of death.

And to be clear, I'm nobody's lefty.

Not sure about the others but in Loughner's case the State was delinquent in updating the database so when the store checked the database they found nothing amiss. Since we cannot count on people doing their job a total ban seems more usefol. As for the second everyone seems to omit the qualifying clause.

Second, God is not going out ordering his followers to do these acts of violence, his supposed surrogates do, supposed ! God seems to me to be doing a fine job as I see it. He watches us decide what is correct behavior and incorrect behavior, and waits to see which path we choose to take. Some call it Free Will, others, Personal Choices ? So who is really to blame.

Third, He still has a few openings, and HE believes in YOU !
