VA's Republicans were willing to go to the mat on this one and forgo this highly important project if it meant doing it with a PLA.

That's how I see it. And, just yet another way for a "Right to be a Slave" state to spread it's sickness.

Nothing like a few east St. Louis gangs roaming around your shopping area to run off business and cause the places to shut down. Not to mention the theft and worse the shooting each other at Metrolink stops........

Not really applicable here, either. This is the place where the "GreekFest Riot" took place, remember? They don't need a train to get to the beach when they can just hop in the hoopty and be there in twenty minutes. Actually, it was proven that the majority of "GreekFest" rioters were here "tourists" from NJ, NY and Philly. (Arrest records.)

So, there.

More to Rex's point. There are places along the light rail route that might be susceptible to the sort of thing that happened in St. Louis, plenty of them, but it hasn't been a problem. Don't know why. Maybe effective policing but the light rail has been a decided plus for the metro area.

John
Same here. The usage by commuters is pretty high. I drove by Curlew Station recently just before "rush hour", the lot was full of cars. More on the train = Less on the road.
