Airshow this weekend, Planes of Fame in Chino, Ca.
Yep, this old lefty is going to the local airshow this weekend. They'll have up to five P38s in the air and a host of other old warbirds. The last time I went they had a dozen P51s roarin' thru the sky. There's even going to be a dogfight between F86 Sabre and a Mig 15. I need to remember to bring ear protection this time. I've been hearing propeller driven planes flying in to John Wayne airport all week.
If I'm extra nice, just maybe, Patty will spring for a ride?

That flying wing is a rare one!
My Dad worked at Lockheed when they built the first run of P-38s. Somewhere at my brothers house is a picture of the very first (non-prototype) one rolling off the production line. I believe he was living in Glendale at the time.

Glendale, Ca.? Nice town, Dave. Still is.
That flying wing certainly was interesting, it'll be there this weekend. I'll be taking more pics.

Yes, Glendale, California. That was before the war. After the war, he got a job at Douglas Aircraft and tried to get my Mom to move out there. She refused.
So, I ended up living in frigid and damp OHIO.
He always said he loved California. But, I guess he loved Mom even more.

Talked to my neighbor, who's a volunteer docent. There won't be any active military doing their usual flyby's. Another hit from the sequester. I wonder how many will be blaming Obama for that at this event?

Cool show but far too many idjit teasippers wandering the flightline for my druthers. Nice flight of five (of a total of seven) operational P38s left flying. Glacier Girl was there doing some great stunt flying.

They'll say it was so he and Michelle could use the money for another vacation, or whatever.

The flying wing is cool. Is there more info on the web about it?
When we lived on APG our quarters were in line with the runway. I still recall the day a C5A arrived with the XM1 Abrams tank prototype. Watching that thing fly just a few hundred feet over my bedroom window was awesome.
