The Trump administration is advocating for a new hierarchy of rights that would elevate religion and property over basic human rights. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is leading this dangerous endeavor through his Commission on Unalienable Rights, which published a 60-page draft report and initiated a two week public comment period following the proposal. Sec. Pompeo then delivered a preposterous speech to support the ideological initiative. The commission and its glossy report are designed to lend a veneer of legitimacy to an endeavor that is both dangerous and a waste of taxpayer money — at a time when the government should be focusing on responding to the public health and economic crisis.

This commission isn’t fooling anyone. Its main purpose is to weaken international human rights protections and propose a new, politically-charged framework of rights that elevates a specific vision of religious freedom and ignores well-established, globally accepted norms.

House Democrats on Friday launched contempt proceedings against Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for what they said was his ongoing refusal to comply with subpoenas regarding “transparently political misuse of department resources.”

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot L. Engel (D-N.Y.) said that Pompeo’s noncooperation with the impeachment inquiry against President Trump, his bolstering of “a Senate Republican-led smear against the president’s political rivals,” and his speech this week to the Republican National Convention demonstrated “alarming disregard for the laws and rules governing his own conduct.”

Nope, just making an observation on what posts 15 and 16 brought to mind.

For me the Law N Order argument sounds great.
But a hollow one at best.
Troubling more likely!
Just little in substance when you consider we have a party in control of the majority of our levers of power now. Who ignore the rule of law when it is convenient. Outright will act as if it is alright to break the law, as long as it is their guys doing it.

So govern by the old, do as I say not as I do, the end justifies the means rule of law.
