To me, it seems you're pointing out that you resent it when a Democrat does it right after Dubya screwed the pooch in the two previous wars.

As badly as Dubya left it after screwing the pooch at Tora Bora. Afghanistan should have cleaned up long before he left office. He had over 7 years to do so.

It took 3 years to get rid of Rumsfeld's generals and find one who was competent.

The plus 4 would not have been necessary had Dubya got the job done in first 7. Hell, he could have sealed the deal within the first few months at Tora Bora.

You're right.
Just mention the Nobel and their heads explode. Partly because it is unlikely that any of those jerks will ever get one and partly because that understand that he got it because his rapid rise to the Oval office is a symbol of success for the Civil Rights movement. A black man made it into the Whitehouse, far sooner than anyone expected, he's a Democrat and this occured following eight years of embarrassing Republican FAILURE.
Does that sound about right to you, Don?

.......and being elected as your president. That acheivement alone is far more than was possible, not all that long ago. Kinda like being the first man on the moon.
It is a symbol of overcoming systemic racist obstruction and dogma, Pete.
If you had been listening to the Nobel judges (Or whatever they're called.) instead of your party and the voices in it's head, you would understand this.

That may have been part of it. He represented to the world (at that time anyway) a return to being a nation that they could look up to, count on and respect - as opposed to the dishonest, arrogant and militaristic regime that preceded him. Is that enough for such an award? Probably not, but it was the world's way of congratulating America for coming to its senses after we went so far off the rails with Dubya. Believe it or not, western/northern Europeans are still quite fond of Obama and highly distrustful of the GOP.
