Saw Deep Purple perform live on TV in the early 1970s, what a disappointment. Richie was so loaded and out of it he made a fool of himself, I pretty much ignored them and him after that.
Is he really that good?

Re: Wes Montgomery
I got this box set out of the library a few weeks ago...

For anybody interested in jazz guitar, or would like an introduction to jazz guitar, it's pretty good.

But I mention this because there's a 40 page or so booklet that comes with it. All sorts of interesting info on the tracklist, history and other stuff. The last section is from interviews with about 15 of today's top guitarists and they were asked to mention their top 3 influences. Wes Montgomery was noted as a major influence twice as often as anyone else.

There's a list I could endorse but there are so many others.
