IMHO, Putin didn't blow up the pipelines.

The potential to turn them back on was a 'bargaining chip' he couldn't afford to lose. Someone else stripped him of that option.

Good point, except he has sabotaged the reliability of Russian gas delivery contracts in the future, just as TFG sabotaged the future reliability of US international negotiated agreements not under US treaty by breaking them by fiat.
