You indeed have more desires, and more suffering, than a slug. But you also have, from time to time I trust, satisfactions and joys that a slug will never experience.
We are programmed to accentuate the negative--there may be survival value in that. But one can easily take it too far. You may be more conversant in Sartre's work than I am--does he ever address the converse of "hell is other people;" my proposition that 'happiness is other people' also?
BTW, I'd class myself as an introvert also, but I've noticed, for one thing, that I start getting weird thoughts if I'm alone
too much....
