He's campaigning outside the box.

Sounds great. The only King Salmon I've caught were babies. A couple 20 pounders off Monterey and a 12 pounder down here off Newport Beach, Ca. in a skiff.

Yeah, you gotta go out for those Kings.

Closest I have ever come to a halibut is Fish & Chips at Stanford's in Walnut Creek, CA and Hillsboro, OR.

It's really a toss up between our southern cousin of the Pacific Halibut and the California White Sea Bass (a croaker) for me.
Fresh Albacore is nothing like that stuff in the cans.

I used to go to Alaska for 3 weeks at a time for several years back in the late '80's and had the pleasure of fishing for King Salmon on the Kenai river out of Soldotna (my girlfriend at the time had a family friend with a camp on the shores of the Kenai).
The Kenai has the biggest kings in the world (and was the source of the 97# world record). One year, I caught a 45 pounder and a 60 pounder on the Saturday and Sunday of a weekend in early July and that filled my limit for that year (you can only keep 2 Kings out of the Kenai per year, unless it's changed).

I have Polaroids, but that would take scanning, etc. and I'm too lazy. I sure was young and pretty back then though (it was 30 years ago).

Same here, I had my fishing buddy shoot a Polaroid of me with that baby 12 pounder I caught not five miles from here in SoCal. Nobody wants to believe that Blackmouths make it this far south but they do, rarely.
