We don't have a total smoking ban here in VA, but restaurants have the legal right to ban smoking if they choose to do so, and most do. Even the smokers I know have gotten used to it and don't consider it to be a big deal anymore.
A smoker friend of mine recently told me, "I smoke. But if I can't go a half hour/fourty five minutes without a cigarette, then I know I have a serious problem."

Restaurant owners have found it to be a plus, because the smokers still come anyways and more non-smokers come---more customers, not less.

Here in NY it is indeed very old news. Frankly I think the ban is inappropriate. As long as patrons and workers are aware that a bar or restaurant allows smoking why on earth should it be disallowed?

For the record I do not smoke and find second hand smoke repulsive.

BTW,a cigar after dinner is not smoking

I never did care for cigars, but after smoking a couple of Cobia's I'd be willing to take it up.
