What's your stereo? Whatcha got?
I know, I know - only an a-hole would ask something like this on a political forum....let's debate stereo equipment!
Vandersteen3 & JBL100t3- Adcom555x2- Marantz 2270 as a preamp in my main system
JBL L80t3- Maggotboxes 150 biampx2- M Audio Audiophile sound card in my computer system

I'm using a vintage Short-o-matic AM/FM w 8-track player, a custom directional antenna I made out of an old clothes hanger, and have it pushing a collection of old drivers I took out of junked automobiles, wired them in series, and mounted them in old shipping containers.
The big trick is how many styrofoam peanuts to add to the shipping containers to get the tone just right.
I also have the drivers out of a couple of Realistic pocket sized transistor radios. I've been thinking about mounting them in a futball helmet and making a set of cans.

OK, I'm a real piker here, but:
Living Room
Pioneer SX-950 (But I'm gonna go back to the Sansui 5000x)
Sony PS-X5/ Grado Silver
Nakamichi CR 1A
Pioneer PD F807
Acoustic Research Connoisseur 325T
Work Bench:
Pioneer SX-680
EPI M60
Whatever source I happen to be working on at the time.
ManCave
Sonance Sonamp 60/using NAD 7240PE for a pre
Acoustic Research AR-XB
Sony Jukebox DVD/CD player
Acoustic Research AR-93
Denon Cassette.
HT -
Some BPC Pioneer receiver
Pioneer Elite DVD player
Infinity Reference Four front
Baby Advent rear
Bedroom
Sansui R-7
Boston Acoustics A40
Zenith portable DVD
This setup is kind of fun, really. The speakers are up at the head, on each side of the bed, facing the bed. I'll put on a CD when I go to bed, and get my head right in between the speaks. It makes for an interesting soundstage.
The Garage system is usually a mish-mash of whatever I am working on at the time as far as speakers, and whatever I have to spare as amplification. I have way to many mid-fi speakers out there. I re-capped the EPI M100, and I love the sound, but I have to find a place for them. I also have some ADC 300b, and some real off the wall Aztek speakers, some store-brand speakers with Utah drivers, horns and nice wood cabs, Fairfax 300x cabs that I put Dynaco drivers in and several others. Just kinda got carried away, and haven't moved them all out yet.
Regards,
D-Ray

If a pair ever show up locally, although even Yamaha's own specs say the NS-690 goes 5Hz lower. The Polk 7Bs and a Rega Planar 2 TT followed me down here from Ottawa. I have owned both since new back in the 70s. The Rega sits beside this computer along with a K-1000 cassette (yeah I own three of them) for burning to CD. Thr Rega sports a Signet TK5e, the two Pioneer TTs have the Pioneer HOMC cartridges and the PX-2 can run Signet TK5e, AT31e LOMC or Denon DL-160 HOMC

Rob, you do realize that X-1000r is a piece of junk. Send it to me and I'll upgrade it for you, I'll have it back to you in a few years.

It had just been gone over, a gift from a satisfied customer. He also brought me two RT-707s and said see if you can make one good one out of them, so I did. The Teac 1230 was given to me about 8 years ago by a co-worker, no line cord so I put in a standard ISO 3-way connector and use a spare computer line cord. Three RTRs and all free.
