Your "best of the world" healthcare system would violate the first section of the German Basic Law:

§1: "The diginity of man is inviolable."

Damn shit... thoughts and prayers go to our dear friend Rob...!

Finally she had her first chemo on Friday so she is weak but going as well as we can expect. So now we go on the offensive against that thing. Senator Cardin's office is helping me get info from the government.

It is the best in the world Chris - compared to Somalia. If she was stronger I would get her comfortable in the car and head for Canada.

Stay strong, Rob. This is where she'll need you the most.

Just back from visiting her, she was cheerful and I got a lot of things sorted out with her doctors. We had a bit of a scare last week as while I was draining the fluid from her lung cavity I saw fresah blood in the drain tube. The 911 EMTs took her to the Montgomery County krankenhaus but after spending a night with her in her ICU room I got her transferred to HCGH. Stupid woman doctor did not recognize her catheter (PleurX) and cut the valve off the end, now it will probably take surgery to replace it. Otherwise I will not be able to drain the fluid when she comes home.

I hope that this doctor is not really stupid and the mishap just occured because of a lack of mindfulness (triggered by overtiredness, exhaustion etc.). Anyway I will carry on to keep my fingers crossed, Rob, Florence!

Well her internal medical physician plans on calling the surgeon who placed the original catheter to see what can be done. I certainly hope she does not require further surgery to replace the whole catheter. That doctor was livid when she saw what had been done. The thing is that without the proper device she cannot come home because I would have no way of draining the fluid from her lung cavity.

The last week was a screw up from start to finish. I regret now that I called 911 because that krankenhaus has set her back months. Then they send me a bill for over $8000, I presume that is before they submit it to Medicare and my insurer. It is the age old story, if I want summat done right best I do it myself.
