Putin arming up draft dodgers.

OK, smart move?

Thousands who want no part in his war.
Now will have guns. My guess pointing at them from all directions. The majority of which will be in same uniform.

Re the undersea Nordstream pipeline breaches. My take is this is part of self-cornered Putin's scorched earth strategy, saying in effect, "you can't fire me with your sanctions, I quit!!" Also a message to the Russian folk in retaliation for the opposition to his very "special operation" miscalculation, especially the formerly compliant oligarchs that benefited from Russia's former commercial successes and now are not on board with his agenda.

Anyone have a more plausible explanation on who could possibly think they could benefit from this devastating self-destructive international vandalism?

Well, there's also this from Biden, so who knows. It does remove the danger that Russia will manipulate the Europeans by *threatening* to cut the pipeline....

"If Russia invades...then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it."

I can see Putin using that for cover for his own acts.
Nordstream 2 was already sidelined by diplomacy, Nordstream 1 was cut off at the supply end out of spite. Russia was already cut off from revenue from them before the breaches.

It doesn't make sense to me that Putin was responsible. There's no upside since the pipeline wasn't even operational.

I doubt it was the US either. If this was a covert operation conducted by the US, seems like a high-risk, low-reward operation.

Makes plenty of sense, once the total disregard of and evil intent Putin has for others is to be considered.
