OK, since you ask. They were smoking last night. The band unveiled a new song that reminded me slightly of the Arctic Monkeys. I can't wait for the CD release party on the 17th. They've booked their favorite dive and a couple other bands for a bash. (My wife goes with me to see them whenever they play on a weekend. She drove home, but I'm too cheap to really tie one on at bar prices.)

Here's where I'm trying to figure things out. I remember coaching my son in baseball. In the early years, it was fun being there because we were around our kids and enjoying the company of the other parents. Sometime around the seventh or eight grade, we enjoyed it because they were playing real baseball. We could enjoy the games as baseball fans almost as much as parents.

Similarly, when I first went to watch the kid's earlier bands play out of someone's garage for their friends, or at a school fundraiser, it was largely as a parent. Lately, I look forward to the music at least as much as seeing my kid on the stage. It wasn't until maybe his junior year in high school that I realized that, because he had trouble hitting a curve ball, his baseball career would end there. The coaches probably knew it before I did. Now, what I see looks to me like real talent. I just know that I can't be objective about it. I just hope that, this time, the coaches will agree.

Regards,

D-Ray

Not exactly. My system decided to cleanse itself. Didn't leave much appetite for turkey dinner or leftovers.
