Critical Race Theory?

After reading a Fox News article and the unhinged, ignorant comments that inevitably follow Fox News articles, I decided to research CRT and learn what it is BEFORE I comment. A novel approach, these days.

Turns out it is the exact opposite of what these Republican imbeciles think it is. It asserts that the notion of race is unnatural and purely a social construct designed to oppress people based on purely physical distinctions. In other words, if you subscribe to CRT, you don't believe race exists at all.

I am SO tired of their disinformation and outright stupidity.

Things like 'designed to oppress people' that crop in the rhetoric always bug me. What are we supposed to think, that some cabal of evil geniuses got together in the 1500s or whenever and invented race and racism and slavery, the better to oppress people? Gee, I wonder if they left behind any "protocols' outlining their evil plot?

I firmly believe the people railing against CRT have no idea what it actually is other than what the Reich-Wingers tell them. The R-W know these people would rather not think for themselves and prefer easy answers and solutions. There is a great whitewashing of history in the U.s. You know what they say bout history, it's History. If you start revealing some of the dirty deeds done in the history of this country you can't MAGA because you can't point out exactly when it was G.

BlyeStreak, the above is NOT to argue with your basic take on 'critical race theory,' which is of course correct. Saw a meme today that asked why is it that Republicans are passionate about preserving history when it comes to Confederate monuments, but want to 'stop reliving the past' when you're talkin about Tulsa 1921 or something like that?

No.... I'm thinking this would have evolved over time to serve the desires of powers-that-be in any given period. Slave traders, the businessmen who wished to purchase and utilize slave labor and politicians who allowed it to happen would have concocted narratives to justify their nefarious actions, such as; "Who cares about them? They're uncivilized animals."....That sort of thing. A couple hundred years of that kind of garbage will instill unfortunate attitudes in a society.

The seeds of racism can be found in religion as well; https://www.bibleodyssey.org/passage...s/curse-of-ham

Those first five words "Critical race theory, intellectual movement...". No wonder the Repubs are alarmed by it. Also that "Critical race theory was officially organized in 1989" during Reagan/Bush and not something dreamt up by those godless/soci@list/pedophile/USA hating Democrats is a problem for them so naturally they have to be against it.

I've been pondering that as well. I think we both know the answer. They love the Confederacy but like to ping on the idea that the Confederates were mostly Democrats. They don't care about what happened in 1921 Tulsa and don't want coming generations to know the truth about American history. Anyone who points at the ugly truth about American history, especially SOUTHERN American history will be derided by the Right. Why? Look at any current Red/ Blue national map. The GOP power base now resides in the Evangelical South, birthplace and home of the Confederacy.

I think the South may have turned red.......but, it's still the south.

I believe you're onto something. They want to return to the "Good ol' Days"......... That weren't really all that "good" for a whole lot of people. They hate it when you shine light on their fairytales.

Right wing clowns the world around, from Putin to Orban to Morawiecki (Poland) to Abe (Japan) to Trump here are big on revising/erasing the ugly parts of their country's history and casting their followers as the real victims.

Ah, yes, right wing/white victimhood...... it has gotten so ridiculous. Remember when our buddy Whell started spouting that shyte a few years back? It was absurd then, it's even more ridiculous now. Almost as nuts as the "tyranny" we supposedly subject our downtrodden billionaires to.
