Russia is 'behind' the West. Especially when it comes to western liberal democracy, which in Europe spread from west to east. We in the West are for it because it works a bit better than what came before.

Russia being a good example. Russia and its vassal states are the last "hold-outs."

Murdering political adversaries at home and abroad and arresting thousands on the streets of St. Petersburg and Moscow peacefully protesting a murderous strategic blunder in Ukraine while shutting down independent media counts as smart governance in your book? Why am I not surprised?

The fact that such a huge country with abundant national resources has an economy the size of Italy's and that they hardly produce any value-added consumer goods of interest to the outside world (and precious little of interest to consumers within its borders) points squarely to the fact that their economy and standard of living are inferior to that of the West.

As for brinkmanship, a unilateral attack of a non-threatening neighbor that includes deliberate targeting of civilians doesn't meet any definition thereof, comrade.

You have a Donald Trump level of fealty to and admiration of a murderous, lying dictator.

There is always a need to evolve without balkanization...that is a big struggle especially for such a huge state.

Vlad wants to see Donnie become dictator of the USA in 2024.

He doesn't want to die now, or ever. He not going to 'push the button'.

I would highly recommend NATO kick the snot out his armed forces in the Ukraine.

There is much speculation about Vlad's health. Some say the long table bit is keep people away because he is immune-compromised, due to the chemo....

I'm thinking he is on prednisone from the puffy moon face and actions of late.

Prednisone is a steroid that reduces inflammation in the body, and also suppresses your immune system.

Prednisone is used to treat many different conditions such as hormonal disorders, skin diseases, arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, allergic conditions, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, eye diseases, lung diseases, asthma, tuberculosis, blood cell disorders, kidney disorders, leukemia, lymphoma, multiple sclerosis, organ transplant rejection, swelling from a brain tumor or injury.

Prednisone may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
(emphasis added).

So Putin might have any of a raft of inflamatory conditions....
