That, and it tells the world that conventional war is a one-way street called Marx Avenue.

Punch the bully in the nose. They respect stuff like that.

Let's yield our interest in Taiwan, and focus on Ukraine. We need to appease the Chinese, because we are close to WW3.

I do believe our AI guys have managed to cripple Putin's advanced jet fighters. And that's why he's pissed.

Anyhow, appease China, push on Putin. Have a USA escort for the Polish MIGs. Land them in the Ukraine before that big column gets to Kyiv.

Pootin threatens attacks if the West helps Ukraine. We should flip the script. TELL Vladimir we're going to supply Ukraine with arms and see that they get warplanes for their defense. You attacked them not the other way around. While your troops are in Ukraine we will not fire on you as long as you don't fire on us. If you fire on us your forces in Ukraine will be destroyed. If he's brave enough (or stupid enough) not to heed the warning send in cruise missiles and then a few squadrons of A-10 Thunderbolts to target any Russian forces on the wrong side of the border. Right now Russia's invasion force is being stung badly by Ukraine's forces. Do they really want to tangle with us at the same time?
Putin, in control of the information reaching the Russian people, can simply say "we've achieved our goals" and "mission accomplished" so we're coming home.

I have learned that the chief Russian 'negotiator' at the Russia/Ukraine talks is a blatant nationalist flake, a 'Steve Bannon' figure. This means no serious talks are happening. We need to encourage Russia to change that.

How to do that is the question. Conventional wisdom is that bullies view peace overtures as weakness and double down on aggression. On the other hand, slightly less conventional wisdom is that aggression on your part prompts aggression in return. So how to thread this needle?

Very carefully.

1. Armaments and planes for Ukraine.
2. Any attacks on our transportation assets to be met with forceful defense of those assets, including provision of strong escort forces. Defense to include all means of action against forces that attack us, to include strikes on air bases from which attacks originate, wherever located.
3. No attacks by US forces against Russian forces that do not initiate attacks on US assets.

Oh Vladimir, before you consider shooting at us...
