During the same era in which the Bund 'rose up', Smedley Butler reported to congress that he had been approached by a representative of American Industrialists and Wall Street Bankers.

He claimed that they wanted him to become the Fascist ruler of the USA by means of military coup. Smedley reported that he 'traced the tree' of people behind the representative, and made allegations against Irene Dupont, and IIRC JP Morgan, and was it Chase Manhattan (?)

They just sued Butler for slander, made a laughing stock out of him.
