IBM Plans To Replace Nearly 8,000 Jobs With AI — HR Jobs Are First to Go

Of course HR will be first to be replaced. Nothing but a drag on the bottom line, unproductive, unliked, uncreative drones, despised by all real workers.

Wouldn't it be something if once AI is running HR. It finds a lot of unneeded expenditure at the upper end of the company. Uses the savings once cutting the top level management to hire more AI..... a bigger power supply or flashing lights...faster Hard Drives...

Wow! Much fewer workers to pay taxes, and support small businesses if AI takes root.

Workers develop AI software and hardware and software engineers make far more than HR weenies. Do you still regret the demise of the buggy whip industry?

What is being overlooked is the people loosing jobs to a computer.
Will the new AI programs doing the work of humans buy homes? Cars? Stereos? Pay taxes?
Or just be a cost sayings for the employer with the consumers never seeing a reduction or benefit on their end?

Yeah, Oerets! Who is going to buy those stereos. Minimum basic income follows or there will be chaos...a guy needs his stereo.

Hardware and software engineers buy homes, cars and stereos. If AI renders HR staff obsolete, these same people will pursue other careers more useful to contemporary society.

You think it will stop at HR?
Already AI are handling phone center jobs more and more. Try and talk to a live person for customer service. See how long it takes to get thru........
Just because you can do something does not mean you should. People need jobs. Espically in a world over crowded like this one. There is a place for AI and robots. It is just that we don't want to expand the people being outsourced causing even more of those who feel left behind.

Yet nothing can be done because this is driven by private industry which only look at the bottom line and rightfully so. New doors do open up, but not for everyone and that is the reality we all have to face.

I have no issue with it costing the jobs of mindless HR numbnuts. The money saved can be put back into the employees who add actual value to the enterprise. As it is, HR weenies spend most of their time and effort figuring out excuses for not being able to help you, not exactly a difficult algorithm to digitally emulate.
