"Alaska leads states in well-being; West Virginia comes in last"
"Over the past seven years, Alaska has ranked in the top 10 four times. And Alaskans are having a good year for a reason, according to Dan Witters, research director of the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index.
They do a lot of the blocking and tackling, as far as taking care of themselves and making good choices, but also demonstrating good holistic well-being in ways that extend beyond the conventional physical wellness," Witters said.
Come on up some time and chillax with the skookum sourdoughs, we'll show you how it's done.

Alaska is on mine and Patty's bucket list, right after Jamaica. Decisions, decisions...

No need to move I'm 84 and last Tuesday Florence took my BP for giggles 124 over 75 and Pulse 59. The only reason Alaska is better is that you have been shipping us all your crappy weather.

No, it isn't. Apparently, Wyoming and Alaska are the two most depressing states in the country. Numbers 1 and 2 on the list. People go there, feel hopeless, trapped and ultimately whack themselves. Also interesting to note is the fact that whites, by far, are the most suicidal and the preferred method seems to be death by firearm. I wonder what the suicide ratio by political beliefs would be?

As to a connection between suicide and political parties, the BBC reported an Australian study a few years ago and found that the suicide rate spikes during times of Conservative government and falls when Labour are in charge. Every time, no exceptions and significantly.

I think there have been quite a few studies showing a link between suicide rates and latitude. The less sun you get the more you're susceptible to depression and suicide.
