Obama is a lot like Jackie Robinson
Quote:
Jackie Robinson wore the number 42 on his jersey. He was a highly skilled, hustling ballplayer, yet many called him vile names and didn’t think he belonged.
Sixty-six years later we have Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, who is an accomplished scholar, gifted politician and champion of the middle class. Unbelievably, he faces some of the same treatment that Robinson faced many decades ago.
The current name calling involves such terms as so************************t, communist, Muslim and non-citizen imposter, among others. These names are more contemporary than those used against Robinson, but no less offensive.

I agree with much of what is written above except the part about Obama being a gifted politician. I voted for him, but unfortunately feel he's in a bit over his head.

And his PR skills pretty much wither beyond the rousing campaign speeches. This far into a presidency, any president should be beyond trying to "win hearts and minds". His professorial manner might appeal to intellectuals and talking head wonks like us, but many people see it as condescending.

Well when it comes to Political skills, he's no Bill Clinton or LBJ, or FDR, but he beats the Hell out of the idiot that was there before him.
And for a black man to get elected President of the United States, that, in and of itself, is an incredible achievement.

That's damning him with faint praise.

Obama had a chance to go down in history and make some changes ,but he got caught up in the healthcare snare, his time as pres is nearly up and so is his chances to be a great pres. he will be mediocre at best. Most Blacks jumped ship a while back,he was bound for glory but lacked the backbone.

It's tough to say imo. When a Politician goes out unpopular it's either because he was bad or he used up his political capitol, which can be good from the long view.
That said, when I see the thread title I think, without the skill

Indeed. The overarching principles of the Repugnant party in congress from day one has been to obstruct, obstruct and more obstruction. It's nullification in reverse.
Now they're crowing about how ineffective this administration has been.
WTF?

Simple enough since so few Americans really and truly know how their government works (or is supposed to work) they will believe whatever the read in the media. And one thing you will not find in today's media ia a reporter, they all believe themselves to be Walter Cronkite reincarnated - except they don't have anywhere near the grey matter or honesty. So we get opinion piece after opinion piece but damn little honest reporting.
And what do we get their invaluable opinions on - Sterling and his farking basketball team. Or some other pointless topic.
