I think buying vintage electronics for big money is stupid unless it has been completely and competently restored to new condition. Paying $300 for a metal box full of leaky capacitors, weak tubes and corroded solder joints is silliness. Buying vintage gear for THOUSANDS is idiotic under any condition.

Probably one of the proprietary Ortofons for the Dual ULM (ultra low mass) tonearms.

Not the best one of course, the plastic plinth is actually not high end...

But the ULM tonearme is fine and this is what actually counts!

Mediocre at best. And didn't come with the ULM cartridge. The table didn't cost much more than $100.00 when new. You did well to pass.

OK this is an odd one. I got ready to leave the other morning and my wife asked me about two speakers sitting next to the driveway. "Huh" I says.

Turns out that sometime in the night someone had left two ragged old school speakers in our yard. I suppose it was someone who knows I like to fiddle with this stuff.

They had the nice thick MDF and wood veneer, but very rough. It looks like they lived with a cat, because the front grill is shredded. The speaker wires connected to them were green from oxidation. But, I hooked them up tonight and could feel the bass on Baba O'Reilly. Not a bad sound at all.

There was no name brand anywhere on them. None inside either. I'm going to try to post pics.

Any ideas on brand or anything.

Regards,

D-Ray

Looks like one of those "house brands" that were sold by various regional stores along with gear. Something like Criterion from Lafayette...although I don't know if that is a good example.

I wish I could wake up and find some JBLs or K-Horns in my driveway.

They kind of look like they may have been built in Japan.

If a speaker can't express John Entwistle then there is no low end!

The sealed midrange and tweeter are cool. I'm guessing a stereo store's in house brand.
