"Great"? How is it "Great" that America is turning into a "renter nation".
It's great because renting means that more people aren't property owners, private ownership, naturally, being contrary to Marxist principle. The Left has been moving us in this direction for decades, but too many people are too idiotic to notice, and many others have been brainwashed to covet what others have and they don't.

It seems to me that you know this all too well.

There are indeed times when renting is a preferable option to home ownership (and vice versa). It has nothing to do with Marxist principles (except to ideologues stupid or impressionable enough to believe it).

Yeah, we're all jealous of him and covet his stuff. What's worse is we're conspiring to kick in his doors and seize everything. I hope for his sake, he's heavily armed so he can stave off at least the first 100 marauders or so.

Seems to me renting is a necessary option in places where residential real estate taxes have gone through the roof (most places, I suppose). Due in large part to the juicy tax breaks handed out to American corporations who move their offices from one state to another every three years to get the juicy tax breaks from politicians we put in office over and over after they tell us how many jobs they "created" in our state by enticing American corporations with juicy tax breaks that we pay for with our ever expanding real estate taxes.

Yes they get tax breaks, especially school taxes, then they moan about the schools not teaching little robots for their particular industry. Sorry but since I am the one carrying the can I want schools to turn out broadly educated young people who can think for themselves. All this concentration on math and science at the expense of the arts and humanities they can stuff. If corporations want people trained in how to operate their machines then let them pick up the tab.

I don't even know if the Europeans still follow the trade-school model for this sort of stuff. But it seems a reasonable solution. Particularly highly skilled trade schools...as there's a dearth of young Americans who have the background to work at these sorts of high-tech trades these days. They're all coming from Korea and India as far as I can tell.

And let such schools be heavily subsidized by tech outfits. Fat fucking chance though. American corporations are invested in the success of Americans right up to the point where they have to spend any money on it. It's significantly more cost effective to just recruit from the India Institute of Technology and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology.

Actually, Germany's vocational training programs are probably the best in the world. Interestingly, they're exporting their program to the VW factory in Chattanooga.

And under the terms of the Bond Servant (H1B) Visa so very much cheaper.

The fact that home buying here has to cope with some of the dumbest mortgage laws and rules in the universe. Of course we have to have all thos e middlemen standing around with their hands out it is a wonder that home ownership is as great as it is.

A much more straightforward system that our neighbors to the north have has resulted in a level of home ownership that is marginally higher than here on a per capita basis. Closing costs are trivial and those rip off artists known as Title companies do not exist.
