Full and fair confession...I was in a "snit" over the incessant threadcraptastic off topic rants.

Pretty interesting read:

http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/...3-9756567.html

Its stuff like this that makes you crazy about being over there:

In fact, the belief system of Isis is little different from Wahhabism, the variant of Islam prevalent in Saudi Arabia. Supported by Saudi wealth, Wahhabism has gained an ever-increasing influence over mainstream Sunni Islam in the last 50 years. Politicians like Mr Cameron are much happier condemning school governors in Birmingham for religious extremism than they are complaining to the Saudi ambassador in London about the virulent sectarianism of Saudi school books.

The US and British alliance with Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan – all Sunni monarchies – creates other problems. It is hypocritical for Mr Cameron to pretend that US and UK intervention are in support of democratic, accountable and inclusive governments when he is in a coalition with the last theocratic absolute monarchies on earth.

Cockburn is right about this. It makes you wonder, for example, what the Saudis are up to here. For them, looking at ISIS is almost like looking in the mirror.

I believe the Saudis have taken a hard second look and just do not like the reality of the coming Caliphate.

From what I've heard the average Saud is practically terrified about it, and are talking about it at the dinner table?

The worm is turning. Maybe we're seeing real plusses of the Arab Spring at work as countries like S.A. are recognizing they can't continue their deal with the devil.

So they're afraid of reaping what they've sown? My heart bleeds.
