I did not hear his rant in fact I did not watch any part of the three day fiasco. I like Eastwood but I guess with some people age does bad things. Shame to see it happen, my brother has been laid low by Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, he would not even know me if I went north to see him. I can only thank God and the excellent diet Florence keeps me to for my mental clarity.

Honestly, watching Clint slip like that made me sad. I remember when Mom started talking to empty chairs and shouting into closets. It only goes down from there. He is one of my faves, too. A great actor. He is a conservative, but he's not an ass. Which makes him a rare bird indeed.

My take-away from Clint's speech is that in order to buy into BS being spewed in Tampa, it helps to have a screw loose.

I've watched it twice now. It doesn't wear well.

I wonder... Would you guys be saying the same things if he was a liberal and speaking in the same manner and wearing the same clothes/hair in Charlotte, or would it have comedic value then?

I would. In fact, I'd feel worse about it because its lack of taste and dignity would detract from the message I'd want the Democrats to convey. I don't have such illusions where the gop is concerned.

Absolutely. I ridicule incoherent babble of all types.

I think the GOP put Eastwood up there because they were desperate to show that they enjoyed some support with the icons of American popular culture so they could say "cool people like Republicans too." It seems to have backfired. Look at who they put out there as a musical headliner - The Oak Ridge Boys.

Nope, in comedy timing is everything and forgetting ones lines destroys the message like this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...dWY692k#t=298s

Even an 8th grader knows Obama wasn not president 10 years ago. Whoops...
Not that it was needed but the CBS did fact check his whole routine.
Clint Eastwood entertained but stretched the truth
But it was the convention and the truth is always in short supply. I eagerly await my wing nut friends to take exception to the Dems next week.

Bottom line, everybody is talking about Eastwood and not what they are trying to do with Romney's image. Mission accomplished.

It could have been worse. They could have had The Nuge.

Don't forget the gun nuts and that backdrop with "The Man With No Name" brandishing a brace of pistols. And his opening line (which seemed to soar right over the assembled gopers' heads): "I know what you're thinking" ("Did he fire six shots or only five?") Dirty Harry is still a role model for a lot of these folks.

Sick party. Sick people.
