I think the nation is far more concerned with Trump's dishonesty, instability and possible criminal actions (by him or his minions) than they are about an ambiguous statement by a former DNI about an ongoing counter-espionage/criminal investigation.

Taibbi does, however, make a good point:

Certainly firing an FBI director who has announced the existence of an investigation targeting your campaign is going to be improper in almost every case. And in his post-firing rants about tapes and loyalty, President Trump validated every criticism of him as an impetuous, unstable, unfit executive who additionally is ignorant of the law and lunges for authoritarian solutions in a crisis.

Krugman is such a tool. He seems to have conveniently forgotten that the House Select Committee on Intelligence already has a hearing under way.

Chaired by yer boy and Trump sycophant, Devin Nunes. This little pipsqueak should be charged as an accessory to obstruction of justice.

This should get the Twitstorm going, Comey's father has some choice comments regarding Trump and more.
Quote:
Unlike the former FBI director, who so far has kept quiet about his firing, Comey's father had some very strong words about the FBI director's dismissal.
"Why he was fired, I think, is Trump changes every day," he said. "He had three reasons three days in a row."
The elder Comey did not hide his own distaste for the President saying,"Oh my God, I think he should be impeached immediately -- yesterday. He's a very incompetent guy. He's out of his league."
But he conceded that he thought impeachment "a long shot."
"(Comey) could have been subservient to Trump, (but I told him) he was not going to do that ..." J. Brien Comey said, adding tongue-in-cheek: "Incidentally, I told him I thought he and Trump would testify side by side in front of these congressional committees. He just kind of laughed."
Comey's father said he has never been a fan of Trump and didn't vote for him: "I think the man should be in a home quite honestly, he's crazy as a hoot."
He does not think highly of HRC either, a man of ultimate wisdom.
Quote:
But he didn't vote for Hillary Clinton either. "I am not going to tell you what I think of her," he said. "We had lousy choices."

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn will invoke his constitutional right against self-incrimination on Monday when he declines to hand over documents to a Senate panel investigating Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election, The Associated Press has learned.

I don't think the Senate or House have the authority to issue a search warrant. The only protection there is the Fourth Amendment. There is no Fifth Amendment privilege for the contents of documents, just for the testimonial act of acknowledging their existence by turning them over.

What the the committees can do, I think, is say 'you search, find, and deliver this document, or we will jail you for contempt.'
