Kazuo Ishiguro wins Literature Nobel.

English writer, Kazuo Ishiguro, has been awarded the Nobel prize for Literature 2017.

It seems the academy members have returned the award to its "center".

The Noble Prize for Literature has become superfluous nonsense since unimportant incompetent assholes like Elfriede Jellinek got it.

Trust me - I have a Literature Master's degree. University: "Albert Ludwig Universität Freiburg"; Germany.

Master's degree--great!

I was not comfortable with last award.

I should check out more this Elfriede Jellinek.

The basic themes of Jellinek are ugly sex and ugly violence. And typical Austrian arrogance.

And this crappy bullshit deserves a Nobel Prize...

Okay. Back to Marcel Proust...

There are some great contemporary American novelists, all of them deserve the prize, in my opinion...

...Cormac McCarthy, Richard Ford, T.C. Boyle, Paul Auster...

By the way, a lot of the commetee's decisions in the last decades have been political instead of literary statments. Although I agree that some of such decisions had been important, I wish that they would judge the work of written art more again.

Thanks for the suggestions on contemporary American novelists. My library should be useful here.

I agree with your observation on the need for the academy to recognize more the art of writing.
