People Who Say They're 'Fiscally Conservative But Socially Liberal'
Sometimes they call themselves "Socially Liberal and fiscally conservative" and sometimes they call themselves "moderates, or middle of the roaders".
But either way they give me a case of the ass.
This article does a pretty good job of explaining why.
Quote:
"Well, I'm conservative, but I'm not one of those racist, homophobic, dripping-with-hate Tea Party bigots! I'm pro-choice! I'm pro-same-sex-marriage! I'm not a racist! I just want lower taxes, and smaller government, and less government regulation of business. I'm fiscally conservative, and socially liberal."
How many liberals and progressives have heard this? It's ridiculously common. Hell, even David Koch of the Koch brothers has said, "I’m a conservative on economic matters and I’m a social liberal."
And it's wrong. W-R-O-N-G Wrong.

So your article pretty much says the rich are always going to get around paying taxes and aren't going to pay, so you, the middle class need to give until you have nothing left, then give some more and let the rich keep all the money. Of course the rich run the scene. Why do you think they are so happy with low voter turnout?
Much of the article is true, but it is bleeding poor and black bias, along with despair. How about welfare pay for an associates degree while it is being received? How about single payer health care? How about voting? How about it come up with some solutions besides everybody hug and sing Kumbaya until we are all broke and starving. Then what?

Tom, we are SL and FC, but we investigate and support reforms that cost less money.
More prisons or more education? Duh.
More preschool support or eliminate welfare and trim the rolls? Again, duh.
Lower taxes, smaller government, and less government regulation of business is not NOT fiscal conservatism. That is Republican dogma, and most folks can parse that quickly.

Its an asinine interpretation of what being socially liberal and economically conservative are. I think this is because the right in this country, this century, has been led down the stupid road by their political empowerment. It was better when we left these dolts in the closet and laughed at them.

With all respect, you need to invest more time in learning about these topics in the macro before posting with such venom in the micro. Its clear your foundation in understanding the issues is not sound and you do yourself a disservice.
Lucky if you invest in the needed knowledge you can simply walk away from these posts which can't be done with your utterances in real life.

I am rather curious Boris, how come all the other industrialized nations can treat their citizens like decent human beings and do so well financially?
