I'm actually glad you all are looking at this, when I bring it up, it's not political as "WE" all are suffering with it.
However, it has nothing to do this corperation stiffing anyone well it does a bit. When we went to a fiat currency (1971) there really wasn't anything stopping the government from printing bonds and handing them to the Feds to pay them to print dollars.
When we keep printing currency it dilutes the currency in circulation that's "Infation" The more they print, the higher inflation will be. They try to tell us that they hold inflation at around 2%-3% which is total BS. If it was true other indicators would only cost that much more year over year, but they are going up 10%-15%. This is our loss of purchasing power every year as our wages obviously don't keep up.
Up until around 1984 IIRC, they used to calculate inflation differently, but If they kept doing that it would show they are not holding inflation to 2-3%. Now they calculate it with the omission all energy and food our biggest expense and something we can't live without. Enter governments, funny math, if people get wage increases and minimum wage is based on cost of living increases (ie: inflation). The manipulation of 10% down to 2% is going to be quite a substantial loss year over year.

Big U.S. firms hold $2.1 trillion overseas to avoid taxes: study
Quote:
Technology firm Apple (AAPL.O) was holding $181.1 billion offshore, more than any other U.S. company, and would owe an estimated $59.2 billion in U.S. taxes if it tried to bring the money back to the United States from its three overseas tax havens, the study said.
The conglomerate General Electric (GE.N) has booked $119 billion offshore in 18 tax havens, software firm Microsoft (MSFT.O) is holding $108.3 billion in five tax haven subsidiaries and drug company Pfizer (PFE.N) is holding $74 billion in 151 subsidiaries, the study said.
"At least 358 companies, nearly 72 percent of the Fortune 500, operate subsidiaries in tax haven jurisdictions as of the end of 2014," the study said. "All told these 358 companies maintain at least 7,622 tax haven subsidiaries."

No clue whatsoever.
Apple manufactures over seas and sells worldwide. Why would anyone think that money should come to the states and get taxed. They have plant operations and distribution and plenty of expenses outside of this country to spend money on and make money on. None of witch has anything to do with the US.
A weird mentality of what's yours is mine.

BTW you have no link to any of this....

Steve Jobs probably would never have made it in a developing nation, or he would have had to leave it and come here. America provided his education and a safe economic system of free enterprise in which he was able to innovate and make his company one of the richest in the world. Paying back in taxes to the America that helped him is the least his company can do.
If you can't see that you are indeed an idiot.

He is not here for an intelligent discussion but to combat with his ignorance.
Back on topic, if everyone looked for loopholes to avoid paying their fair share of taxes, what would be the quality of our life? What good is it to have a fat bank account and nice cars if the roads are falling apart?

It's not envy of 'them', it's resentment of arrogance and abuse by them.
