Elizabeth details some of the broken promises relating to trade deals.

Note the term "minimal push back".

Repubs look to raid Medicare as part of the trade deals.

http://www.latimes.com/business/hilt...18-column.html

"Medicare means many things to many people. To seniors, it's a program providing good, low-cost healthcare at a stage in life when it's most needed.
To Congress, it's beginning to look more like a piggy bank to be raided.
That's the only conclusion one can draw from a provision slipped into a measure to extend and increase the government's Trade Adjustment Assistance program, which provides assistance to workers who lose their jobs because of trade deals. The measure, introduced by Rep. David Reichert (R-Wash.), proposes covering some of the $2.7-billion cost of the extension by slicing $700 million out of doctor and hospital reimbursements for Medicare." LATimes

Rightwingers never miss a chance to gut the safety net, threadbare as it is these days.

Bastards should make damn sure that "trade deals" don't cost jobs. We used to have tariffs for that and all our major competitors still do.

And applying Bandaids to the displaced workers at the expense of fixed income retirees shows just how much these pricks care about us.

Why do those idiots always want to hurt the only people who vote for them anyway?

I just do not get the logic of going after Medicare.

It's a successful government program.

The high-income class doesn't even like paying workers who are doing work for them. They really hate paying* retired people who aren't, and won't contribute any more work. It's just dead loss from their point of view.

* The high-income class resents all government expenditure, viewing it as coming out of their personal pockets.
