Charleston - shooting in church!

We were right in the middle of it last night - Pastor Pinckney was a friend and always stopped by to ask how our employees were doing - we operate several locations a couple of blocks from the church.

Please take a minute or two and think of the families.

I can't really deal with it right now - headed down to Morris Brown, their sister church (we lease space from them) to see what, if anything, we can do to help.

They identified him - kid looks 12 f*&king years old - it's never going to end, 150 years not long enough; his Facebook shows him wearing a jacket with the former Rhodesian flag, for Christ's sake.

I saw this idiot Steve Doocy on Fox this morning saying that it's "...extraordinary that this shooting is being called a hate crime". And then I noticed the banner running at the bottom referring to it as a "tragedy."

Y'know...it's interesting that Fox News and others...maybe even some here...will refer to this thing as a "tragedy". This is not a tragedy. This is murder and mayhem...it's grisly slaughter. Sandy Hook was not a tragedy. 9/11 was not a tragedy.

A tragedy is when a back porch collapses and 13 people are killed. Or when a crowded bus goes down a ravine in China and 137 people are killed. Or when mom dies of an embolism.

The definition of asshole is anybody who calls this a tragedy.

You're right, tragedies are ususally thought of as very bad things that happen, but not due to someone's malice.

But it is tragic that humanity is so fucked-up that we pull shit like this. Often.

Most often though it's just one victim at a time, and we don't hear about it, or it's further away, and we care a lot less.
