There will of course be a cracker backlash.

You will see more, not less Confederate flags displayed, but by private individuals.

The flea markets will be doing a brisk business in Chinese made Confederate Flags, License Plates, T-shirts, etc. for a while.

This will be fine for the GOP. This strokes the base's sense of victimhood. And what are those people going to do, vote for Democrats or something?

Its about time the flag is coming down....and I think it is dawning on the GOP that they are becoming associated with xenophobia and are probably worried about winning the Presidency....I do not think they want this issue to be brought up next fall in the election.


It is sad that it took a racially motivated mass murder to cause this to happen.

They had an opportunity to get in front of it but they didn't. Called it an attack on Christianity while the nation woke up. Then the flag became a state issue, again missed the boat. I hope GOP sponsored racism and the Dixie flag stays front and center.

States' Rights was originally code for a state's "right" for its citizens to hold slaves. After the Civil War it became about segregation and Jim Crow.
