As is usual with these religious fanatics, she claims to be under orders from god, serving god or whatever. Will need a lawsuit to dethrone her. Someone needs to explain to her what a public service job entails, serving the public without any discrimination.

There are still some left over George Wallace Democrats in small rural areas of the south. They vote Republican in Presidential and Congressional elections but stay registered as Democrats cuz Diddy, and Grandiddy, and Great Grandiddy and all the rest of the Diddys way back to Reconstruction wuz Democrats.
As for this Biatch, she's already had too many second chances.

There is a lawsuit, brought by the Country Clerk, interestingly enough. The federal court has ruled against her, the appeals courts and the Supreme Court have refused motions to stay the court's order that she follow the law while appeals are pending. So as of now she is exposed to fine or jail for contempt of court if she fails to comply.
She can continue her defiance easily for a while, in the case of fines, unless the judge sees fit to make them extremely high. She'll get donations.
If she is sentenced to jail, things get interesting. She might surrender and be a martyr in jail. Don't know if someone else could or would issue licenses in that case. Or she might hide, or supporters, in an act of open insurrection, might fend off federal marshals sent to arrest her.
She could of course decide to start issuing licenses, but I don't expect that....

Yup! I see a "GoFundMe" page in the near future (if there isn't one already). She'll end up banking a ton of money, retire with a pension and live like a little princess, revered by the Christianists for her "courage" the rest of her ridiculous life.

She will write a book? Maybe a ghost writer will but I doubt she could write an intelligible paragraph.

More on this wackadoodle county clerk, where we find that she's on her fourth marriage. http://www.esquire.com/news-politics...iage-licenses/
Yeah, I know Charlie Pierce is a godless heathen but it's worth a read.
