It looks like he has a climatology degree so it's tough to beat him on his own turf. I glanced at his web page and it looks like I could agree with him on some stuff. For example he appears to be against printing money.

When it comes to printing money for the sake of unprincipled growth I could agree with him. So could Lewis Black on the left. To borrow his sarcasm, we simply don't need another big effing thing, and big effing thing spa to go with it, etc etc.

I come at the climate change argument from a different angle. Would people rather hang out in a grassy area or would they rather hang out in an asphalt parking lot hot enough to sweat their body parts together? When it comes to things that humans are in control of then I vote for the first option.

There seems to be middle ground to be had. It just needs to be couched in terms that can be felt. Like sweaty underwear.

What is the difference between printing money or creating any other type of currency? I mean you can print it, stamp it out of metal, use shiny pebbles or whatever. I really don't see the difference. Precious metals? Is there really enough to go around? Or will we have to grossly inflate the value of the coin causing rapid deflation? A new car would now cost $12, but you'd still have to work for two years to raise the funds? I know that's a gross exaggeration, but that's how I see it.

Look at it this way; People wax nostalgic about prices being so much lower way back when. Heck, I remember going out to see a movie in the early eighties for $3. It's $9, now. But, I also made $3.50 an hour then. I make almost $30 an hour now. So, realistically: Why should I give a shit? In that example, I'm actually ahead of the game.
