Britain is Special
Will use this topic for news of the cultural mother of Anglo USA.
Big news this morning is that PM Liz Truss has resigned, completing the wreck of her project to help the very deserving super rich by slashing taxes and regulations. She did enormous damage to the economy in an incredibly short time, hopefully creating a lasting electoral effect in Britain. Whenever they are allowed to vote again....

This entire mess can be traced back to Brexit, an initiative of Make Britain Great Again conservatives and their Russian patrons.

Trumpite-level foolishness on the part of too-many voters was achieved. Hopefully this will break that for enough of them. Certainly current polling says it has.

The main reason for a majority vote for Brexit:
A reaction to too many eastern Europeans (especially Poles) flooding UK.
They suppressed wages and competed heavily for scarce benefits such as housing.
British working class Jobs were often advertised first in places such as Lithuania and Poland.
Looking down the pike the Brits were seeing Romanians and Ukrainians.
Additionally Commonwealth Citizens such Indians were pissed because their relatives could not enter the country as easily as Poles etc.

How the pie is going to grow when energy is so expensive for everyone?
The controllers of Europe went for spot price and round the clock sanctions and ended up with Ted Cruz. Now Germany the engine of Europe (aided by very cheap Russian gas) is looking at deindustrialization. Some of its manufacturing industries are relocating to the US. Trump must be having a good laugh.

Deindustrialization is quite the scare word, a few guys who use great lots of natural gas may relocate promptly, but that's hardly going to derail a colossus like Germany.

Truss may well have killed off an ideological project that has animated sections of the right, in Britain and across the democratic world, for the best part of half a century. The vision was of a low tax, low regulation society where the richest are freed to unleash their awesome talents and make themselves even richer.
According to this vision – whether you call it Hayekism, ultra-Thatcherism, Reaganism or economic libertarianism – when the fortunate few at the top soar ever upwards, some of their wealth trickles down to those at the bottom. Versions of it have held sway at different periods in Britain, the United States and beyond.
Now, though, such dreams will be branded as Trussonomics – and that label will be the kiss of death. In six short weeks Truss has discredited high-octane, free-market economics, perhaps forever.
