Classy Move, Browns

Some Cleveland Browns players sat during the National Anthem during a preseason game a couple weeks ago, and caught heat from some fans for it. Hall of Famer Jim Brown challenged those players to come up with a more positive way to communicate their message, so they did. With the support of the team owners, the players created a short video that aired before the National Anthem:

It'll take a lot more than that to wipe the stink off the NFL for their behavior on a wide variety of issues.

The name Colin, which the NFL owners cannot make it go away.

After the awful QB play yesterday (and the teams in need of a decent QB or backup), nobody can make the argument that Kaepernick isn't being blackballed. He's definitely better than several dozen of the 64 starter and backup QB's in the league. For example, there's no way that Andrew Luck's backup at Indy, Scott Tolzien, is better than Kaepernick.

I got a fundraising robocall from some LEO wingnuts and hung up on them. If I donate to any of them, I want to know what for, where's it going, and why.

I disagree. Kaepernick's time in the NFL has come and gone.

First, let's not forget that Kaepernick turned down on contract to play in San Francisco this year, so he's primary responsible for not being on a roster right now.

Second, in the words of Joe Montana, someone who know's a thing or two about QB'ing the in NFL:

Kaepernick’s ability to play the quarterback position well is more of a factor than his national anthem protest last season, Montana told Kristian Dyer of Sporting News.

“I’m not sure, I think (if) there’s an injury somewhere he probably gets in,” Montana said about Kaepernick’s prospects of making an NFL roster next season. “In most cases, you look at Tim Tebow — a great guy and everybody was talking about him — but what it comes down to is 40 percent completion or even in the low 50s, you can’t win in the league with that. You won’t be in the league very long.

Kaepernick was never an accurate passer, so once NFL defensive coordinators learned how to better defense the read-option, the offensive scheme in which Kaepernick was most successful, his value in the NFL plummeted.

Now, Scott Tolzien had an awful day yesterday. But I guarantee you that the Colts won't be dialing up Kaepernick's agent today. Kaepernick is not a fit for the Colt's style of offense, nor is Kaepernick a fit for many team's style of offense.

Couple his low passing accuracy with lack of fit and with the potential distraction of putting him on a team - particularly with the likelihood that the team he'd be going to would be likely to have overall talent deficiencies - it would really be a unique situation that brings Kaepernick to an NFL roster. Maybe later this season when teams start churning QB's due to injury he might get a call, be even at that, it would be remote that someone would make him a starter unless they're out of options.

So, you're saying that he has no job in the NFL is solely skills based? I don't buy it. Research a bit why Kaepernick wasn't signed by the Ravens and get back with me.
