It is contrary to the record to suggest that Obama is either devoid of common sense or unable to get work done. One of the biggest beefs against Obama has been that he is too pragmatic - to willing to make compromises in order to get something done. It seems to me that pragmatism is a way of expressing common sense.

I really doubt that he would get nothing done. If he actually ended up the presidency, the Republicans would support him somewhat anyway. They would have to or it would kill the party.

It would be highly entertaining to watch Paul try to dismantle the military/industrial complex in the face of opposition from his own party defending its sugar daddy.

Barry O had "3 years" experience in politics, he was a Junior Senator.
And his inexperience has been obvious during his term as president.
Ron Paul has had "13" years experience, he has served on "6" committees and subcommittees, sponsored 468 Bills and ran for the office of President 3 times.
I believe that Ron Paul, even with his non party positions will do better than Barr O' as he is an established Congressman with the knowledge of Washington D.C., that Barry O' lacks.
Yes, he no Ronny Ray gun or JFK, but he is best honest choice I believe we have today.
And most of all, he has been constant in his political views, a NO B.S. candidate.

Ron Paul has never been a Senator. He has sponsored scads and scads of bills that failed in the House of Representatives. Only one bill he ever sponsored actually passed. Ron Paul is a leader in the tradition of Don Quixote.

It however seems that Barrie's pragmatism began after he lost the Congress and almost lost his Senate. Before that he didn't seem to have a very pragmatic side, or much use for compromise either ?

He did make a major error in judgment in the first two years. He included provisions in the legislation to make them appealing to the Republicans in Congress, unaware that they would goose step along with Dr No. He would pick up on something suggested by Republican, and because he supported it, it automatically lost Republican support. He sought compromise when no compromise was available.

Sorry for my error !
Congressman Ron Paul, but that doesn't change anything but his title.
Hell at this point I would be Happy to vote for Don Quixote, at least he is a man of vision, action and determination to complete their goals.

I fail to see how Obama's performance (good, bad or indifferent) has any bearing upon the potential performance of Ron Paul. Regardless, I have a greater chance of being nominated in a brokered GOP convention than Ron Paul does of winning the nomination. Think about it.
He's 0 for 8 thus far in the GOP primaries/caucuses and he won't even win his home state. The first step in becoming President is being nominated by your party. He has no chance. Fuhgeddaboutit.

So he may well run as an independent and split the vote.
