Gonna have to disagree with you. Both my wife and I worked our fingers to the bone to raise 6 kids in a 850sq ft home in a good school district. I have voted 5 times to increase taxes for our schools. Before school of choice the average class size was 23 kids. Now it 36. The teachers cannot teach nor control these kids.

Why should I pay insane tax amounts so kids from any district they want can come here, and pay next to no taxes. Something is very wrong with that system.

By the way. Do not think I am anti education. That could not be further from the truth. We rented our house before we bought it and we could barely scrape rent together, much less food, bills, and so on. Why ? Because our local schools were some of the best for kids with special needs, which we had one. I volunteered, donated, did everything we could to help the schools and teachers, who are WAY under paid. Its just not right.

The problem is the system of local funding through property taxes. It bakes in a system of educational apartheid where poor districts have under-funded schools and poorly paid teachers while wealthy districts have good schools and well paid teachers.

As I said, all schools should be 'choice' schools, held to the same high standards. In a 'perfect' world-----.

And to some degree I would partially agree with you. Thing is look at the massive bailouts all Michigan residence have had to shell out for the mishandling of funds in Detroit schools...

This is simple corruption and exists in all bureaucracies.

Don't see any other principals from other Michigan cities being sentenced for this.

We have our own thing going on down here with a long line of public servants with their hands in the cookie jar.
